That is why this project carried out by a fashion designer called Sun Min and the architect Christian Taeubert will be of great help if you are wondering how they can do it in their respective homes.

This renovated rural cottage It measures 76 square meters and was built in the 1970 decade, but had collapsed perimeter walls and lands covered with vegetation. We can appreciate how he keeps many of his original rustic features, like the original wooden beams and ceiling, which are next to the modern additions, such as the large sliding glass doors.

The cabin was renovated with a open plan design and the use mainly of locally sourced materials. The central space is occupied by a living room with a wood stove, a kitchen and a dining room and a small sleeping space on a raised platform at the other end. A master bedroom and bathroom are located at the other end of the house behind a stainless steel partition.

Today Facades World we turn red and yellow and we take an almost complete tour of Spain to analyze and share their traditional architecture and their best designs and styles. Do not miss it, dear readers, because we are starting right now… here we go!

Traditional Spanish architecture

In Spain we can find a diversity wonderful architectural, so, that until today is overwhelming. That is why on the day of the date from our website we have decided to start a small visual trip through the most striking Spanish typical houses in the country. Do not fall asleep eh, because the trip is about to begin.

Farmhouses: The farmhouses are isolated constructions, always linked to an agrarian and livestock farm of family type. In mountain areas, the material most used for its construction was the unpolished stone, and in places where it was scarce, adobe was used for construction

Barrack: the barrack is a typical building of the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia that served as housing for the farmers, so it is located in the irrigated orchards. It has a rectangular floor plan, about nine by five meters, with adobe walls and a triangular cover of hurricane and straw with a marked angle to drain the torrential rainfall typical of the area.

Cave Houses: In Granada, cave houses have been a reality that has lasted beyond prehistory. Thus, they had a first boom during the Muslim conquest of Andalusia, and another at the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Today, some 3.000 families from Granada continue to inhabit them.

Casona Montañesa: characteristic of Cantabria, this type of house stands out for its southern facade, open to the sun and light thanks to the characteristic «solana», a balcony with wooden railing protected from winds and rain by side walls.

Farmhouses: The cortijos are the type of dispersed rural habitat typical of the whole southern area of Spain, and its main characteristic is that they consist of an extensive surrounding territory for agricultural exploitation. The base of the cortijo is a large patio, around which were located the livestock constructions, those of work (forge, carpentry, etc) and those of storage, as well as the kitchen and the rooms of the workers.

Pasiega Cabin: the pasiega cabin was house, barn and hayloft at the same time, and is typical of the Cantabrian mountain. The ground floor was for animals, and the upper floor was used as housing and storage. The most curious thing about these constructions is that they were only inhabited during the warm season.

Hamlet: a hamlet and a quintana are independent housing surrounded by agricultural land, only that the first belongs to the Basque Country and to Navarre, while the second belongs to Cantabria and Asturias. Its construction is done in stone, and can reach 15 meters in height.

Pazo: the manor is a manor house, normally located in the countryside, and once the residence of important people in the community. They consist of a main building surrounded by a garden, a dovecote and often, small chapels.

Farmhouse: the farmhouse is a farm house with farm of a considerable size that consisted of a small watchtower, an interior patio and some adjoining constructions. Some of them were also fortified with palisades, mud walls or defense towers. Nowadays, they only fulfill a decorative task.

Pallozas: Of circular or oval plant with between ten and twenty meters of diameter, these houses of primitive aspect possess low stone walls and are covered by a conical vegetable roof, usually formed by stems of rye. Its appearance is old, yes, but it is because its origin is also: it is believed that they were Celtic buildings.
