Information on terrace installation
Located on the roof of a XNUMXth century mansion in Mexico City, the terrace installation that we share with you today. A light roof that is more than 50 meters in length and connects several courtyards of this construction. This lightweight structure consists of 45 lightweight metal trusses, separated 1.2 meters from each other, distributing the weight evenly over the existing construction, let's see.

Lightweight, industrialized synthetic materials such as nationwide PVC, polycarbonate sheets or railings made from nylon nets, seek to reduce the weight of the construction and generate a strong contrast with the materiality of the historic building.
In the terrace installation of this XNUMXth century construction, two types of polycarbonate were used (translucent and transparent), thus it is possible to filter the sun's rays, but the patios can be viewed in the same way.

Along with another series of elements such as the planters that overflow the patios and define new terraces, the geometric rhythm can complement each other perfectly. The lights highlight the intervention in the night landscape of the city as we can see in the images.
This project is a great alternative to demolishing historic buildings, demonstrating how valuable structures can be reused and retrofitted intelligently.
