Installation and finishes of stone and marble
Both marble and stone are considered luxury materials but this does not mean that they are used very little, since in recent years the growth of their use has been extraordinary. These materials have different compositions, structures, gloss, texture and even hardness. They are usually widely used for floors and stairs for their aesthetic sense and for their duration over time. Next we will show you the installation and finishes in stone and marble, let's see.

Marble Installation
Marble is the most perfect type of crystalline limestone. They are often used as one of the wealthiest building and decoration stones. As we will see in the installation manual and stone and marble finishes, it is a compact and crystalline stone with good polish.

Different groups of marbles
Marble can generally be divided into five main groups:
- The unicolor marbles, among which stand out the statuary white of Carrara, the black of Belgium and that of the Borrego hill, in Orizaba.
- . The marbled marbles, of infinite variety that there are them in all parts of the earth, of very different colors.
- The composite marbles, which contain materials that generally come from plutonic rocks, among which is, the cipolino marble, from the Genoa coast, which contains fragments of green mica in its greenish paste.
- The fossiliferous marbles, which are formed by a paste in which many shells, snails and fossil remains in general are seen; as a type of these, the one extracted from the Escamela hills, between Orizaba and Córdoba, can be pointed out.
- The marbles brocateles, composed of angular fragments and other marbles brought together by a paste, they are generally beautiful types that have been tried to be artificially imitated; These marbles, due to the large number of small cracks they have and the foreign matters that entered into them, do not resist weathering and often not even moisture, so they should be used only indoors and sheltered sites.

Installation and finishes in marble
If we want to install marble on floors, the way to do it is very similar to the way to install ceramic tiles, but there are some things that change in their installation. Some installers present the marble slabs first to be able to follow the drawing and not err in the installation detail. On many occasions, it is usual to start from the center of the place to the ends to obtain a better general pan of the drawing that we will make. As we will see in this installation manual and stone and marble finishes, the placement of the marble is done using a thick layer of cement in the area where it is to be treated. The floor, in turn, must be completely compact and clean to avoid installation errors. If possible there should be a variation of less than 2mm.

Installation and Finishes in stone and marble - The application of the adhesive
Something very important in this installation manual and stone and marble finishes It is the application of the adhesive that is carried out by means of a trowel. It must have notches so that the mixture is homogeneous and thus be able to place the marble with great care since it is a material that can fracture or break when handling. All this is done considering a joint that is not greater than 5mm. In many cases, resins are used as some types of marbles have porosities in their composition.

When a few hours have passed, it is necessary to be able to seal the joints, which are made with grouts and we will apply it with a hard rubber trowel. It will be used to verify that the grouts no longer descend to the joints and thus ensure a correct installation of the marble.

Marble Installation Manual
In the days after the installation, we must carry out the polishing processes that are carried out with the reduction of the grain grinding wheels, until the desired shine is obtained. In this way we protect with a water-soluble non-slip wax. As a last resort, we suggest cleaning these floors with water and solutions that are not so aggressive to avoid damaging their shine, such as: metal spatulas or fiber sponges, as they can cause scratches on the surface of our marble.

Installation manual and finishes in stone and marble - The stone
The stone mainly comes from the exploitation of sedimentary rocks such as sandstones. In many cases, they allow them to be worked without presenting difficulties because they are materials for wall cladding and, subject to good use and maintenance, they last many years.

Characteristics of the stone
These stones are formed by grains of sand, gathered by a silico, calcareous and clay foundation. Silicose sandstones are very hard and difficult to work because of their tendency to chip. On the one hand we have the cream stone which is a soft clay rock that is used mainly for making figures. Then we have the White stone which is harder than cream stone and its best known use is in wall veneer. Finally we have the stone doll which is also known by the name of "mona" stone due to its particular color, yellow with streaks of coffee. It is considered the most hard stone and is compared to the hardness of travertine marble. It is widely used in floors and baseboards of all types of construction.

Facades of houses in decorative stone
The types of stone to decorate a facade They can be so varied depending on the region where they are obtained. Granite, marble, quarry, limestone are the decorative coatings that are most frequently applied in facade designs. The shape of the stone is what makes our walls different and unique, resulting in modern facades with decorative stone.

Modern stone facades generally set the pieces to bone. In other words, the pieces are placed next to each other without any joint between them. This way of laying embellishes the modern house facades. We can also get slab-type stones, whose narrow and small shape favors their placement, making them practically not join and give very beautiful results on a facade.

Modern houses with exterior stone cladding
The straight lines of the house together with the large windows make an ideal combination for the stone cladding of the exterior walls. If we observe the tonality of dark and gray colors, it goes very well with the wooden details of the construction.
