How to paint on canvas - Learn the step by step to achieve it correctly

Would you like to renew the decoration of your dining room, living room or bedroom but you do not have much money? We tell you that you are in the right place because today in Facades World after the comments they left us on YOUTUBE we will show you how to paint on canvas correctly. So if you liked the proposal, do not detach yourself from the screen because we are starting right now!

How to paint on canvas correctly

If you got this far it is because you are wondering how to paint on canvas correctly, we tell you that for this we must choose the right paint and know how to prepare the fabric. Painting the fabric, be it a dress, a T-shirt or a banner is something that we can do in a simple way. As long as we have the ability to choose the right fabric and the right paint to make our work look right. To choose the ideal paint, what we must do is choose between an acrylic paint or a textile paint. These are paints that contain a pigment suspended in an acrylic medium specially formulated for use on fabric. They are easy to find in craft or DIY stores, so you just have to follow these steps. Let's see…

Steps to paint on fabric correctly

  1. The first thing we must do is choose the right fabric to paint, let's keep in mind before starting what we want to transfer to the fabric. Ideally, use 100% cotton fabric, such as sheets or T-shirts as they absorb paint well, but the truth is that you can experiment with any fabric you want. We suggest that when buying it we talk to the owner of the store who will know how to recommend the ideal one for our work.
  2. Once the fabric is chosen, it will be good that we also have a small sheet or polystyrene plate on which to place the fabric when we go to paint. In this way we can draw and paint on a surface that will serve as a support and avoid future problems with paint splashes.
  3. Before starting to paint, we must wash the garment if it is new since there are always fibers from its manufacture that may not grip the paint in the correct way. Therefore, you only have to pre-wash the garment, let it dry and you can paint it. Perhaps it is one of the recommendations that we will hear when we buy the fabric but it does not hurt to clarify it.
  4. If the garment that we are going to paint is old or used, what we must make sure is that it is well washed so that it does not contain traces of starch or fabric softener that could interfere with our work of art.
  5. If we can take the time to iron the garment, but especially the part where we are going to work would be ideal. In this way we will prevent any wrinkles from distorting the work done.
  6. Once we have the fabric ready, we prepare the workplace by covering it with plastic or newspapers so that the paint does not stain anything. Then we spread the fabric, put the polystyrene underneath, and began to paint.
  7. When we paint we can do it freehand or find molds of the drawing that we want to make on our garment. There are thousands of designs that we can make and download.
  8. We suggest starting by making the contours of our drawing. Then from the outside to the inside we will fill in the drawing that we have made.
  9. Once we have finished our paint job on the fabric, we recommend letting the garment dry for 24 hours to be able to use it.
  10. For the wash we must wait 24 more hours, but we suggest not doing it until after 5 days of having done our work. This reasonable time is for the paint to fully cure.

Steel entrance doors

Steel is praised for its energy efficiency, safety and durability. Steel access doors have a higher insulation value than wooden doors, sometimes up to five times more. While steel doors do not deform, can dent and rust. Its wood grain embossed finishes don't look as good as real wood, and some finishes may require periodic repainting. Steel doors also cannot be easily cut to fit an existing frame.

Wooden main entrance doors

Wood is the traditional choice for exterior doors, and it's easy to see why: it's beautiful and customizable. There many types of wood To choose from, such as pine, spruce, oak, mahogany and maple, as well as a variety of finishes, from paint colors that match your décor to varnishes that enhance the beauty of wood. The wood can also be cut to fit the doorway, so an unusual size or shape is doable. The disadvantage One of the main reasons for using wood doors is that wood can sag, warp and peel over time, especially when repeatedly subjected to the elements. Waterproofing can help with insulation and durability. Wooden doors will require periodic maintenance in the form of repainting. A door of solid wood veneer it is a less expensive alternative to solid wood. It is less prone to warping and increases the insulation value of the door.

How to organize a garage - Ideas and tips that will help you achieve it fast and easy

In our house we have some spaces that, sometimes, we find it difficult to organize. For this reason, in Facades World we will teach you how to organize a garage quickly, easily and cleanly ... so get to work and stay on the screen because we are starting this new informative article right now.

Different ideas and tips to know how to organize a garage

Do you need advice to know how to organize a garage? Well, you are in the right place. Often the garage becomes the landfill of our house, there are always too many elements that we do not use, the same ones that later do not leave us space to store what we really need. That is why below we share some tips and ideas that will help you organize it in the best way ... let's see.

organize garage-interior-design

Before we begin we must have the necessary tools for the process: resistant garbage bags, a powerful vacuum cleaner and baskets for all the little things that will have to be stored. Start by vacuuming the floor while you get rid of things on the floor like nails, chemical stains, or cobwebs. When you clean, you can start the process by throwing out everything that you are not going to use and know that you do not need.

While thinking how to organize a garage we will discover many effective ways, but the most important thing is to keep it organized ... Then the idea will be to be able to get everything out of our garage. Getting everything out onto the driveway in front of the garage will help you see how many of the same items you have. Or how many things have you broken or not used in the last 5 years for example.

Tips

  • Divide the garage into zones
  • Organize the garage by planning storage
  • Install a rooftop storage system
  • Take advantage of perforated steel panels
  • Reuse old cabinets and lockers
  • Use long screws for inexpensive vertical storage
  • More storage ideas

Divide the garage into zones

Since there are so many different things stored in the garage, experts advise organizing and zoning your garage. You can start by grouping similar elements with similar elements, for example:

  • Automotive supplies
  • Sport Team
  • Tools
  • Recycling center

You can create areas similar to what you will see in any department store: garden, tools, cars, painting / home projects, etc. This way you know where to look for everything when you need it. Using this concept of zones, you can create few zones or many zones depending on your needs.

Organize the garage by planning storage

You can start storing items in your own home once you assess the storage space in your garage. Some simple ways to create more storage include:

  • Use vertical space in the garage
  • Use what you have, or buy the right products for garage storage
  • Make sure dangerous items (chemicals, tools) are kept out of the reach of children

Install a rooftop storage system

One reality is that there is never enough space inside a garage, with which, we must learn to put the space we have to good use. One of the options for doing this is to install a ceiling storage system where you can store things on a shelf positioned above your head. In specialized stores you can find different systems that suit you, both economically and also for the space you have in your garage.

Take advantage of perforated steel panels

If you want to increase the vertical storage space in your garage, perforated steel panels are a great option and an excellent alternative to bulky tool boxes. These panels are available in a wide variety of sizes depending on the space, being a versatile storage solution that allows us to easily store all our belongings in one place.

shelves-storage-garage

Invert the shelves… At Facades World we believe that there is nothing more annoying than trying to find something in a messy garage. But you can easily avoid it with a shelving system. Having a large enough shelving system, you can organize everything you need to store without any problem.

Reuse old cabinets and lockers

Do you want to organize your garage without spending so much money? Well, a solution to know how to organize a garage without hurting our pockets so much is to look for outdated office lockers and filing cabinets at a low price or even free online.

You can also use wooden pallets to store straight items: sweeping brushes, rakes, shovels or sports equipment ... They will be the type of things that tend to take up more space, also counting on the risk that when they fall they will break or even worse cause damage. tosomeone.

Use long screws for inexpensive vertical storage

If the appearance of the garage isn't of the utmost concern to you, but you want to maximize storage space, a handful of good long screws can do wonders for quickly hanging things. Screwed into the wall at a slight angle, they are the perfect inexpensive hooks for items that can be hung. And if you ever feel like playing games, you can double the number of hanging screws to hold things like shovels and brushes, placing the thickest part between the two ends of the screws.

How to paint a vintage furniture - Know the step by step + Video to achieve it

If you are a lover of aged furniture and wondering what you can do with those pieces that you hardly use anymore, you are in the right place. Today our colleagues from Architecture Planet they share us how to paint a vintage furniture so that our entire community learns step by step. So, if you are interested, do not move from the screen because we are starting right now.

How to paint a vintage furniture - Make it easy thanks to this step by step

Many times we see worn walls or furniture with an aged look that look like something out of a movie of the time. Its old appearance, with scratches or some holes make us see the passage of time in them. Today the vintage style is a trend in many homes and the answer is that they give a personal appearance to the decoration as well as the satisfaction of having done it yourself. Today in Facades World we will show you how to paint a vintage furniture step by step… let's see.

Content

  1. Materials
  2. What paint to choose for our furniture
  3. Remove any type of dirt
  4. Paint with the color that we are going to highlight
  5. Let our furniture dry
  6. We sail across the surface
  7. We add the second coat of paint
  8. Final sanding - Worn effect

Materials

  • 1 Brush
  • Sanding wood
  • Acrylic paint (choose two contrasting colors)
  • A pack of candles

What paint to choose for our furniture

To achieve the worn effect that we are looking for, the ideal is to use acrylic paintings. They stand out for being quick-drying paints. For our furniture, what we should choose are two acrylic paints: one will be the color that we want to highlight the most and the other will be the tone that our furniture cuts. That is why we recommend that one have a darker tone and the second a lighter tone. In this case we use seawater color and white.

Remove any type of dirt

The first thing we must do is take our sandpaper and pass it through all those areas that have any trace of dirt or stains. We often come across some paint stains on these antique furniture. Do not worry since when you sand it there will be no traces of them.

Paint with the color that we are going to highlight

Once we have sanded our furniture, what we must do is take the paint that we choose to highlight. Then we go with our brush through all those areas that we want to highlight and that our color can be seen (we use seawater color paint). If there are areas that we choose to highlight over others, all we have to do is pass our brush as more emphasis on them.

Let our furniture dry

After painting with our first paint, what we must do is let it dry. Remember that acrylic paint is fast drying, so if we have a sunny day the process will accelerate even more. How much should we let our furniture dry? About 2 hours. With this time it would have to be more than enough. They can also check if they are in a hurry and if we do not stain our hands when we touch it, our paint dries optimally.

We sail across the surface

Before passing the second painting on our furniture, what we must do is go over the entire surface of the candles. You can choose any type of sail, we choose the most economical, since its purpose is that when we pass the sandpaper it skids and does not lift the paint in its entirety. So let's pay close attention to this step that seems unnecessary but is extremely important.

We add the second coat of paint

Finally we pass the layer of paint that we choose to contrast with the first (in this case we choose a white base). At the time of painting what we must do is follow the trend used in the first painting. What does it consist of? If we paint horizontally with the seawater color, when painting with the white color we must also do it horizontally since otherwise the different brush strokes will be noticed and they do not look good at all. The same process is for those areas where we paint vertically. As we did before, we must let it dry for about 2 hours to do the last step!

Final sanding - Worn effect

Now yes, it is time to finish our furniture giving it that worn effect that identifies it so much. To do this we have to sand the furniture to remove the excess white paint. To make it look natural, we recommend sanding the protrusions of the furniture with angles or corners. Throughout the furniture, apply the sandpaper with different intensities so that it is not uniform and we can give it a realistic effect.

Painting a piece of furniture - Know the most common mistakes before you start

Paint a piece of furniture It is one of the best ways to renew your appearance and be practically new. However, many times we do not know how to use paint. That is why today in Facades World We will share the most common mistakes made when painting. Take note because we are starting right now!

When painting a piece of furniture do not be in a hurry

One of the most common mistakes is doing things quickly. Usually we go wrong in life and for paint a piece of furniture It is not the most recommended since we must do it calmly and with dedication. If we see that we are not going to be able to do it today, it is better to leave it for tomorrow or another day where we are calmer. This is recommended because when painting it is very important to respect the drying times between coats. So, if you don't have time, better another calmer day.

Not using the right materials to paint a piece of furniture

In general, when renovating a piece of furniture by painting it, we are saving a lot of money since we do not have to buy a new one that would be more expensive. That is why we tell you, when buying a painting you do not want to save, buy a good quality painting. We say this because if you don't it will show in the final result. Generally, in the paint shops we find many people who can advise us in the best way, we must listen to them.

Not following the manufacturer's instructions

If we are not expert painters that we know all the paintings that have been and for having it it is better that we follow the instructions of the manufacturers that are detailed in the paint containers. In this way we will avoid many headaches since we will know how to prepare it if necessary or how to use it.

Not preparing the furniture well that we are going to paint

This is usually one of the most common mistakes since we start painting quickly without any treatment. In Facades World we say NO! The first thing we must do is check the furniture to see if it has any damage, once we check that the furniture is suitable we must clean it thoroughly. If our furniture has traces of paint we must proceed to sand it until the wood is clean of residues.

Not preparing the environment to avoid stains

Many times when we start painting we do not have the precaution of preparing the work area. This error often brings us a lot of headaches since by not working a little more in the preparation of the terrain we end up working more later. If we do not cover the surface where we are going to paint, we will stain the floor, therefore we will have to clean the stains once our work is finished. For this it is advisable to use newspapers, an old blanket or even plastic. Any resource is valid to cover the surface that we will use when painting our furniture.

Don't apply too much paint

Once the furniture is prepared and ready, what we must do is paint it with a suitable brush or with a roller if the surface is smooth. For this we must mix our paint well to encourage the pigments to mix properly. A mistake that we often make is overloading our brush with paint too much, which causes brush marks on our furniture and even stains on it. From our website We recommend that you drain the brush well before applying the paint.

Not protect the surface

One mistake we often make is not applying a product to the surface that protects our work. For this we have to choose wax or varnish, which we will choose depending on the result we want to achieve. Wax is very delicate and is recommended for furniture that does not have as much traffic. Varnish is often used on furniture that has a lot of use since it is very resistant.

From Facades World We are again very grateful to our colleagues from Architecture Planet for sharing this informative article with our entire community. Do not hesitate to visit their website to find out the latest architectural news and much more.

Small Dressing Room Ideas - Learn How You Can Do It EASY and FAST

If you are thinking about how to order your clothes and you do not have much space, we tell you that you are in the right place because today in Facades World let's talk about small dressing rooms. Which is the reason? Very simple, is that when we talk about dressing rooms we imagine the typical huge dressing room in which we will need the same size of our house to have it, something very unlikely. So if you are interested in knowing these small models do not take off the screen because right now we start!

Small walk-in closets you'll love

Currently there are no women and fewer and fewer men who resist the charms of having a dressing room at home. But the limitation is that we decide to have them whenever there is a free room in our house. Many times this happens because we are left with the impression that the dressing rooms should look like in the movies where they are perfectly ordered and with all the clothes within our reach. But as we always say, each place in the house must be attached to the design that we choose and above all the available space. Today in Facades World We show you 7 ideas for small dressing rooms so you can choose yours more easily. Take note that we are starting right now!

1. You have to be original

Many times we must get out of traditional thoughts to achieve a broader perspective that allows us to be creative and even have new spaces that we did not have. Take for example how our protagonists designed their dressing room and created a new room that until now they did not have.

2. Selecting clothes is an important step

We are not going to wear all the clothes all the time. A winter jacket in summer? We will not use it, nor will we use the wedding dress every day. You have to be practical, like lovers of minimalist design. But beyond the style, what we must do is have only the seasonal clothing available to gain space and speed up the task of dressing each morning.

3. Share when we want

Many times when we have little space what we want to achieve is a visual independence. That is why by placing a curtain we will be able to have it in sight when we want and when we decide to have a visual independence we only have to draw the curtains and that's it.

4. Dare to Innovate!

We must find new physical points available in our home and for this, what better way than to change the paradigm of How should a dressing room be or go? We can include a small ladder and have our dressing room horizontally at the top. In this way we gain space and fitness when going up and down stairs. Great!

5. Hanging prototypes

Many times, using this type of hanging dressing room allows us not to take up much space and even find a new way to distribute our belongings. The most important? You will see how in this way the feeling of spaciousness in your bedroom increases.

6. Organized

Whenever the space does not have what we need to spare, it is the capacity to be ordered and simple. The fact of not neglecting the order will make us succeed in enjoying a small dressing room in our house.

7. Adapt the space to your things

Do you have many bags? Are you an athlete and have many boots? Each space should be thought of for your needs. Once we have identified our needs, we can shape our dressing room thinking that each space must fulfill a function.

Flowerpots with stones - Learn how to make them easily and quickly in simple steps

After several messages and questions that we have received in our community of Facebookat Facades World we are going to share how you can do flower pots with stones easily and quickly. So if you are interested, stick to the screen and pay attention to the step by step that we are going to share with you below ... Let's start!

Do you want to know how to make stone pots?

The cans of milk or canned food are an excellent material to recycle and reuse. They have a particularity, they are very adaptable to different types of decoration that we want to do in the interior design o Exterior of our house. We can use our spray or paint cans that look great or use them as they are as a pencil for our children's school supplies. This time we will show you how to do flower pots with stones a trend that grows day by day in interior decoration ... let's see.

Materials for making stone pots

  • Milk cans
  • Stones
  • Pieces of paper and glue Akepox 3015 - Quick-setting liquid epoxy adhesive (we suggest this one for better fixing). If we do not get this glue, the white glue can be very useful, even the silicone pistol.
  • Clear varnish.

Any type of can is used but in this case to make stone pots we use milk cans that are the largest that exist so that our pot can hold large plants. Remember you can use the can you have at home, it does not only have to be milk.

Step by step to make stone pots

Step 1

We must clean our milk cans so that they are empty and completely ready to use in our crafts. If we use water to clean its interior we can leave two hours in the sun to achieve excellent drying.

Step 2:

We must make some grooves or holes in the bottom of the can so that it can drain the water when watering our plants.

Step 3:

We must line our aluminum cansIf we get white paper widely used in offices, much better, but it must be completely covered. How do we line our cans? Very simple, sticking with our glue or paste two layers of paper on the can in this way ...

Step 4:

Once we have our paper base assembled we can start gluing our stones on the surface. We can mix different types of stones or that have the same characteristic and achieve a uniform style. If we weren't able to wallpaper the base, Akepox 3015 Glue - Quick Fix Epoxy Liquid Adhesive is great for getting them to adhere the best. But if we made our layer of paper, the glue or the silicone pistol will do a great job in our decoration because they will be able to be fixed more easily. You choose the method!

Step 5:

We must give it a generous layer of transparent varnish or acetate that when dried becomes transparent. Both have the particularity of adding shine and hardness to the surface.

We thank our colleagues at Architecture Planet for this new contribution of great importance and usefulness to all our readers. Since Facades World We appreciate your presence again and invite you to join our community ...

Wooden cabinets - We show you how you can make yours the easy way

Welcome to a new article from World Facades, website where you can find detailed information about interior design, facades of houses and much more. On this occasion our colleagues from Architecture Planet share us a new informative article so that you can create yourself wooden cabinets in a few steps and in an easy way ... let's get started!

7 ideas that will help you make closets for your room

Many times it happens to us that we have wood and we don't know what use to give it. Wood is one of the materials that can have different purposes, but without a doubt one of the most used is for carpentry. This very old specialty gives us many possibilities to manufacture, among them Cabinets of wood to store objects or clothing. They can even help us use the least possible space in our room and as an addition contribute to home decoration.

Below we will show you some copies of wooden cabinets which you can do yourself. We have decided to order them in 7 different models, so pay close attention:

1. Shelves

Many times it is not necessary to make large Cabinets but with some shelves and a place to hang clothes is more than enough.

2. Multifunctional cabinets

We can make the designs of the size that we want but it would be very useful to have different functions. Just as we can store clothes we can also do it with shoes, coats, blankets etc. They are designs that can be very practical and space-saving.

3. Many compartments

The interesting thing about having furniture with many compartments is that not only can they be used to store clothes, but they can even serve as a library.

4. Rustic cabinets

Currently they are very fashionable and we can place them anywhere that will be very aesthetically good given their particularities.

5. For small rooms

We can use our closet separating it into two parts. One for clothing and one for footwear, that way we will be practical and keep only what is necessary.

6. Wooden drawers

The virtue we have when using these wooden drawers is that we can strategically place them on the wall to achieve a minimalist look. We can even change them at any time we want.

7. With drawers

They are generally very easy to make since they do not take up much space and the style or size depends on personal taste.

We thank our friends and colleagues at Architecture Planet for this great contribution. On its website, you can find endless architectural news and articles of all kinds, do not stop visiting them.
