The Stonewood house, a rustic and modern construction with spacious rooms

One more week, from the hand of Facades World and our collaborator Eliana Poplavsky, we offer a construction class that will help them a lot in terms of the use of materials, their disposition and, of course, the necessary expenditure to carry it out.

The Stonewood house, from Breathe Architecture, is located in Australia. This is one small work of two floors and roof to two waters that combines rustic and modern, thanks also to the use of wood in an innovative way, in addition to the construction details that make this house original and attractive.

Seeing your modern facade, we will have a first impression that it is built in exposed brick due to the exterior shape of it, however it is natural wood blocks the size of a conventional brick.

View of the main exterior Deck through the enclosure panels.

All the interior rooms connect visually with the façade by means of windows, panels and doors that open and allow direct views.

In interior design from the Stonewood house we can find many and varied wooden elements. The wall coverings, the mobile panels and custom furniture, all in a natural wood tone, give a feeling of warmth to the space. And as contrast elements we observe the polished cement floor and mosaics of dark and yellow stones, which they work as a coating on part of the kitchen.

Sector with movable panels and polished cement.

On the first floor has been designed the social area that includes a large room and multimedia room, from both environments you can directly access a large deck located to the left, it is interesting to design two large blocks of wooden beams that cover both environments, these are also built with the wooden bricks above mentioned and steel as a structural element.

                                                                    Low level.
Room with open panels, allowing the view and great lighting.
                                                      Room with closed panels.
View of the room and its movable panels.

To the right is the dining room and kitchen with island and a very original design, located right next to the storage cellar, laundry area and bathroom; and at the end of the house we will find another deck, a small patio and a bicycle shop.

Front view of the large kitchen with island.

                                       Bathroom, ground floor.

The area of the wooden staircase that leads to the second floor is used to place a shelf on the wall, as a way of using space.

Shelving in route of the staircase to the second floor.

On the top floor we will find four bedrooms, one of them en suite with bathroom included; In addition to a terrace that shares the same with another of the bedrooms. The headboard of one of the bedrooms and bedside tables are also made with the same used wood in the rest of the house.

                                                                  Top floor.
Bed headboard and one bedroom bedside table.

Modern and economical country house, discover how to get the best visuals thanks to the distribution used

From Facades World we would love that the copy that we present today, can serve as inspiration for the construction of their own home. This beautiful and striking modern country house and economic, called Eagle Ridge (Washington, USA), it has a distribution in planes in the form of "L", which allows you to have unique views towards the landscape that nature gives us.

In one of the parts of this pretty field housing, more precisely on the outside, due to the use of a corrugated metal shed, we will find walls of this same material, which resembles and reminds us a bit of the houses built with recycled containers.

Placed in the cantilever, the lights of the ceiling spotlights give life to the facade at night

Combination of construction materials such as wood and metal, combining perfectly thanks to their colors and textures
Entrance to the House of Style field
As you can see, whether it is a rural or country house, it gives us the possibility to create circulations on the outside

Interior design of the economic field house

The housing program created, which consists of a combination of kitchen-dining-living room, study, master bedroom, art studio and a storage area with the flexibility of adding bedrooms or an apartment, uses recycled old wood from an 100 barn years demolished in eastern Washington, rusted steel for the coating, as well as stones rescued from the work and moss.

Large doors slide out to open the house to wide views, creating a living room in the forest. On the other hand, the entrance garden divides the house creating two zones, making the eyes are fixed mostly in the natural views. A tip that we give you from Facades World is: in the design of your cottage, you must orient the social and / or private area towards the best exterior views, with floor to ceiling windows that will have a greater angle of vision.

The house is built with insulating structural panels (SIPS). This method allows for faster construction time, less waste generation, tighter construction, and better insulation. All doors and windows are designed to exceed energy code requirements, on the other hand, LED lighting in order to reduce energy consumption. Let's see the images ...

Unrivaled views from the living room towards the pine forest
Use of white paint on ceilings and walls, generating a feeling of spaciousness in the interior. Frames and beams were painted black, thus obtaining a modern contrast

Rotating door design and visualization of corrugated metal part
Bathroom using stone as a covering material

Floor Plan of the Eagle Ridge Lodge

                                                                   Floor plan of the house

In the center of the plan we will see the social area which is made up of the living room, kitchen and dining room, on the far right a bedroom (12), next to it a study room that can also function as a bedroom (11); the master bedroom has walking closet and bathroom with tub (6). Giving a total of 2 bedrooms + 2 rooms that we will consider multipurpose (bedroom or study, personal choice of the occupants).

Then we will present you with ideas to renovate your façade and we will go step by step so that you can not only take note of the ideas applicable to your home, but also enjoy the visuals that we present to you.

Change the paint

Changing the color of the facade paint is certainly the most notorious way to renew the front view of the property. It is true that by professionals you will get the best result, but if you want to save costs, many people dare to do it themselves.

You can use different colors, moldings and frames in contrasting colors, and even also paintings with false finishes and thus Give a completely renewed look in front of our home.

Among other factors to consider, a very important one is to choose the color that we will use well, and for that we must be very clear about the style of our house and how it will combine with the frames and color of the openings, the moldings and the ceiling. In addition you should also take into account the style of the neighborhood for which we recommend going for a walk and observe the colors used in the neighboring houses.

Coatings

The wooden partitions, stone sconces (or similar stone), as well as the false ones bricks, or any other coating is an ideal way to renew the overall style of the home from your outside view.

Although it takes a few days, its application is simple, because we are talking about a method that uses glue and is applied directly on the old wall, with preparation of the surface if necessary.

The coatings can be applied completely to the facade or simply in sectors. This is undoubtedly a way to add character and change the look of the facade easily.

Closures and openings

We can modify doors y windows, as well as the bars, to give a completely new face to the facade. Paint the bars with metallic paints, and renew the color or varnish of the woods.

If the budget allows, replace doors and shutters with others of a new style. Do not forget to complete with a good treatment the frames and windows as well as the handrails of the portico.

Lighting

Sometimes, the simple fact of altering the lighting of the facade can give it a totally different look. In modern houses this resource is widely used to illuminate the walls and floors. In these cases you will have to decide for white light as the low consumption, light bulbs of warm light, or led lights of other colors (there are many colors available).

But if your home only has an outdoor luminaire and you do not need to add more than that, consider renovating the lampholders and replacing them with wall lanterns. This will give a special touch to your home.

Another option is to add simple road lights with solar charge, they would be an ideal complement for your facade and are easy to get and place.
